About Genmaicha
Genmaicha is a traditional Japanese green tea preparation featuring roasted and partially puffed rice grains. The natural brown rice, "genmai", adds a slightly malty roasted flavor. While Bancha is often used as the green tea base, premium grades like this one use high-quality Sencha. The blend of green tea and roasted rice results in a mild, hearty taste.
Cultivation
The foundation of this Genmaicha is green tea, made from Sencha. It is cultivated in renowned regions such as Hishida, Uji, Fukuoka, Shizuoka and Kyoto. The tea leaves are traditionally steamed, dried and ground into a fine powder in stone mills after the coarse leaf vessels have been removed.
