Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know for a perfect cup, in one place.

What is black tea and how is it made?

Black tea is a fully oxidised tea, giving it a rich, bold flavour. The leaves are withered, rolled, fully oxidised, and then dried to lock in their distinctive taste and aroma. Unlike green or white teas, the longer oxidation process enhances its malty, fruity, or even smoky notes, making it one of the most robust teas.

Is drinking black tea good for you?

Yes, drinking black tea daily can be healthy in moderation. Rich in antioxidants and natural caffeine, our quality whole leaf black teas support energy, focus, and well-being while delivering exceptional flavour.

How many calories are in black tea?

Black tea naturally contains zero calories when served plain. At AVANTCHA, our black teas are naturally flavoured and enjoyed without added sugar or milk for a pure experience.

How do you make the perfect cup of loose leaf black tea?

To brew the best cup of loose leaf black tea, use boiling water and steep for 3–5 minutes. The amount of tea depends on the product, but a good guide is around 5g of AVANTCHA black tea for 350ml of water. Enjoy it plain for a pure, full-flavoured experience, or add milk or a natural sweetener if you prefer.
